Here, we talk about it all:

  • Life’s milestones (and the surprises they bring).
  • The beauty in laughter and family.
  • Reflections on personal growth, current trends, and even those tough moments that shape us.

Honoring Friendship and Health Awareness

Today is the birthday of my best friend of 42 years. She left this life far too soon in the fall of 2021.

She was my cheerleader, confidante, sister, voice of reason, and a bright light in my life. Her support was unwavering, and she always believed in me.

Our bond was deeply rooted in faith, love, and acceptance. We stood by each other through life’s milestones—before husbands and children. Sometimes, we didn’t even need words because our connection was so strong.

It was approximately six months from the time she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer until the time of her demise.

According to the CDC Uterine Cancer Basics on Google:

  • Uterine cancer is a disease in which cells in the uterus grow out of control.
  • All women are at risk for uterine cancer as long as they have a uterus, and the risk increases with age.

Today, as I embark on a new chapter, I do so in honor of Ruby Jean Butts.  It’s with great joy and purpose that I introduce my new page nearing the end of this black history month.  I know if she were here, I’d hear her cheering me on. With that, I carry on in her honor. Rest in peace, my sister.

Let’s honor our health and prioritize awareness. 💪
