Breaking News & A Personal Call to Action

As I continue to honor my dear friend’s memory, I have come across shocking and deeply unsettling news. Dr. Sanjeeve Kumar, a physician in Memphis, TN, has been arrested due to alleged criminal medical practices. Reports indicate there are at least four confirmed victims. Here is the link to the article detailing the case: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/02/memphis-gynecologist-charged-sexual-abuse

This information hits painfully close to home. My best friend, who tragically passed away from endometrial cancer, was treated by this very doctor. While I cannot definitively prove a connection between his actions and her untimely passing, I firmly believe her case, along with any other patients he treated, deserves a thorough review.

A Call to Action:

If you or a loved one were ever treated by Dr. Kumar, I urge you to take action.

  • Request Medical Records: Ensure that your personal or your loved one’s medical files have not been mishandled or tampered with.
  • Come Forward: If you suspect malpractice, do not hesitate to report your experience to the appropriate authorities.
  • Demand a Review: If your loved one passed away under his care, push for their case to be investigated. Every person deserves justice, and every life deserves to be accounted for.

Lessons We Must Take From This:

  • Always research your doctors. Check their credentials, reviews, and any history of malpractice claims.
  • Never hesitate to get a second opinion. Your health is too precious to rely solely on one perspective.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off about a diagnosis, treatment, or procedure, ask questions and advocate for yourself or your loved ones.

The Timing of It All…
It is no coincidence that this arrest happened in the same week I was honoring my friend. I believe this is part of bringing light to the truth. I will not let her name or the names of others fade away without a fight for accountability.

Let’s stand together in the pursuit of justice and medical awareness. We owe it to those we’ve lost and to those still here fighting for proper care.

Did You Know?

Endometrial cancer is one of the most common gynecologic cancers, yet many women are unaware of its warning signs. Awareness is key to early detection!

Symptoms to Watch For:

🚨 Abnormal vaginal bleeding (especially postmenopausal)
🚨 Pelvic pain or pressure
🚨 Changes in menstruation (unusually heavy, prolonged, or irregular periods)
🚨 Unexplained weight loss or a feeling of fullness too quickly when eating

Who Should Get Screened?

🔍 Women over 50 are at higher risk
🔍 Anyone experiencing symptoms—early detection is crucial
🔍 Women with risk factors, such as obesity, PCOS, a family history of endometrial or colorectal cancer, or prolonged estrogen exposure

How is Endometrial Cancer Diagnosed?

👩‍⚕️ Pelvic Exam – Initial assessment by a gynecologist
🩺 Transvaginal Ultrasound (TVUS) – Imaging of the uterus
🔬 Endometrial Biopsy or D&C – The most definitive tests for diagnosis

Prevention Tips:

💛 Maintain a healthy weight – Obesity increases risk

Honoring Friendship and Health Awareness

Today is the birthday of my best friend of 42 years. She left this life far too soon in the fall of 2021.

She was my cheerleader, confidante, sister, voice of reason, and a bright light in my life. Her support was unwavering, and she always believed in me.

Our bond was deeply rooted in faith, love, and acceptance. We stood by each other through life’s milestones—before husbands and children. Sometimes, we didn’t even need words because our connection was so strong.

It was approximately six months from the time she was diagnosed with endometrial cancer until the time of her demise.

According to the CDC Uterine Cancer Basics on Google:

  • Uterine cancer is a disease in which cells in the uterus grow out of control.
  • All women are at risk for uterine cancer as long as they have a uterus, and the risk increases with age.

Today, as I embark on a new chapter, I do so in honor of Ruby Jean Butts.  It’s with great joy and purpose that I introduce my new page nearing the end of this black history month.  I know if she were here, I’d hear her cheering me on. With that, I carry on in her honor. Rest in peace, my sister.

Ladies, Please Take Note 🩺

Let’s honor our health and prioritize awareness. 💪
