I was scrolling through Facebook and stumbled across a reel of two people fighting in the middle of a church service. In God’s house 🙁😒🥹.
It reminded me of a time, years ago, when I sat in a church service where a physical altercation broke out right in front of me. It was wild then, and it’s still wild now.
After seeing and hearing so many negative activities surrounding so many of the churches leave me asking: Why doesn’t the church feel sacred anymore?
Welp, God has not changed. But people? We have allowed pride, performance, politics, and personal agendas to creep into the spaces once reserved for healing and worship.
Today, in too many churches:
- There is more judgment than love.
- There is more gossip than grace.
- There is more performance than presence.
Some pastors are untouchable, and many pulpits are platforms for control. The pews are filled with people who forgot they, too, are sinners saved by grace.
It is disappointing and heartbreaking. And for those who have been wounded in church, it can feel like betrayal.
I’m here to tell you don’t give up on God because of what man mishandled (inside and outside of the church).
There are still churches where the Spirit of God is alive. There are still people walking in truth and love. And more importantly…
We can be the sacred space.
We can walk in truth.
We can better live the faith we claim.
Be Better. Not Bitter.
This is not about finger-pointing…it’s a call to self-check. Because whether you’re in the pulpit, the pew, or the parking lot…
✅ You can choose integrity.
✅ You can lead with grace.
✅ You can show up differently than what you’ve experienced.
Let us all just be better. For real. In public, in private, and especially in places where people come searching for hope.
