Honoring the Conquerors

In moments of deep loss, reflection comes softly whispering to the heart in ways the mind can barely process.

Recently, my family had experienced wave after wave of grief. Some losses came with warning. Others, like tragedy, came out of nowhere. Each one leaves a mark. Each one invites a deeper pause.

But one thought keeps returning to me:

If someone lived beyond the 70 years promised in Scripture, they didn’t just live, they conquered.

They didn’t have it easy.  They came through poverty, prejudice, heartbreak, and hardship.
They lived through seasons many of us will never understand decades marked by struggle and strength.

To live into your 80s… 90s… even beyond 100? That is a testimony in itself.
That is a legacy of endurance.

It’s easy to get caught up in mourning. And yes, grief is real, raw, and heavy. But even in our sorrow, we must take time to honor the conquerors among us.

The ones who paved the way quietly.
The ones who lived before convenience and comfort were common.
The ones whose names may never be printed in history books, but whose lives left an eternal impact on the hearts they touched.

They lived across centuries.
They saw things that only they and God will ever fully understand.
And they kept going.

Even as we mourn, we celebrate.
We recognize that their lives were not just long, they were filled with purpose, power, and presence.

So today, I choose to honor the conquerors.
Those who made it past 70.
Those who defied the odds.
Those whose quiet strength shaped generations.

May we carry their lessons forward.
May we honor their journeys.
And may we never forget the power of a life well-lived, one that lasted, endured, and still speaks even in silence.
